On Feb. 22, the Five College Consortium came together in John M. Greene Hall for the annual Five College Choral Festival. The event opened with a performance of Ave Maria by the Five College Collegium which was followed by performances from the Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke and UMass Chorales, Chamber Choirs and Glee Clubs.

“Knives Out,” directed by Rian Johnson and theatrically released on Nov. 27, contains a scene in which a character describes the film’s forbidding mansion setting as “practically […] a Clue board.” It is an unexpected but wholly appropriate moment. A whodunit murder mystery inspired heavily by “Clue,” “Knives Out” isn’t interested in shying away from its modern time period or in denying its genre roots. Part homage and part subversion, “Knives Out” relishes the way it plays with audience expectations, seeming to welcome comparison to other works.
Thursday, Nov. 14th, I attended the 29th anniversary of Smith Celebration, an annual event on the Wilson House steps on the Quad which celebrates love in all forms.
“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” debuted as a play Aug. 2, 2012, based off of the 2003 novel. Smith presented it Oct. 26, 2019. Smith also presented previews Oct. 22, 23 and 24 for the autistic community. I had the opportunity to attend the Wednesday preview. It was a standard preview, but instead of being asked about line delivery and pace, I was asked about the intensity of the lights and sound.
Friday, Oct. 25th to Sunday, Oct. 27th is Family Weekend, meaning that students’ loved ones will flock to Smith’s campus. In addition to simply reuniting, students can expect to give their guests a taste of Smith life. Family members are invited to enjoy refreshments at Friday Tea and Sunday Brunch, tour Smith amenities like the Botanic Garden and the libraries and even attend class alongside their students.

About so many things that I hope speak to you all,” said Anaiis Cisco, Smith’s new Assistant Professor of Moving Image Production at Smith, introducing her short film “Drip Like Coffee” to an audience of Smith students and faculty on Monday, Oct. 7.
