The Arts & Culture section presents its first zine, highlighting student art made amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the switch to remote learning. “Art Computer,” constructed entirely digitally across time zones and Zoom calls, speaks to the (sur)reality of digital and material life flowing freely between each other in a time of social distancing.
After a call for submissions to the Smith community, contributors shared their art made in response to crisis and isolation. Although “Art Computer” cannot reflect the entirety of experiences or inequalities made bare because of this public health crisis, we hope our publication will serve to commemorate a small corner of the Smith arts community living, virtually and embodied, through the Spring 2020 semester.
“Art Computer” and future zines can be found at our flipsnack account, as well as the link in thesophian.com menu.
