Smith Swimming and Diving finished their regular season with a 160-135 dual meet loss to Mount Holyoke on Saturday. Jenika Parson ’13 won both diving events and Mackenzie Bradley ’13 picked up wins for the Pioneers in three events.
Parson scored 234.35 on the 1-meter dive for a 15.40 point victory and earned 252.10 on the 3-meter dive for a 21.90 point win.
Bradley earned a victory in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.20 followed with a win in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:21.27. Bradley then teamed up with Paige Christie ’15, Meredith Millman ’16 and Alyssa Pascuzzo ’15 to complete the 400 yard freestyle relay in 3:58.95 for first place. Bradley also finished second in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:57.37.
Senior Kelsey Swensen earned third place in the 1,000 yard free with a time of 11:39.72 while Christie and Claire Dudek ’16 finished the 200 yard free in 2:06.24 and 2:10.74 for second and third place, respectively. Laura Nunnelly ’16 came in second in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 1:08.08, just one second behind first. Olivia Bannon ’15 took second in both the 200 yard breaststroke with a 2:33.46 finish and the 100 yard backstroke touching the wall in 1:10.60, just behind first place 1:10.27. Pascuzzo picked up second in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.38 and the 100 yard freestyle in 57.57, a mere .10 seconds behind first place. Pascuzzo also earned third in the 200 yard IM in 2:22.00.
“As a whole, we performed very well with 36 season best times and many lifetime best times and the divers dove well, some adding new dives,” said Head Coach Kim Bierwert. “Everyone is well poised to perform well at NEWMACs in two weeks, where we hope to get many more lifetime best performances in swimming and diving.”
The Pioneers will compete in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference Championships at MIT from Feb. 14 through Feb. 17.
