What is your name, year, major, and house?
Olivia Mallari, class of 2016, Neuroscience, Scales House.
What sport do you play and what position?
I play soccer and forward/midfield.
How did you get involved in soccer and when did you get started?
I was about 5 when I started because my dad played. Also, soccer was something everybody did when they were little, and for me it stuck.
What’s your favorite thing about soccer?
My teammates and the friends you make because you play the game.
Who is your favorite athlete?
Gigi Ross ’16, another player on the Soccer team.
Who is your role model and why?
Probably my mom. She is also a Smithie. She is a very strong woman who I look up to. She has always been there for me.
What is your favorite pre-game meal?
I really like eggs benedict before a game. I like a nice, big brunch and a good fruit salad.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
A few. Something we do as a team is we watch this video of the U.S. Women’s National team, a weird compilation of them both playing soccer and dancing to an S Club 7 song. It only has like 30,000 YouTube views, and I swear all of them are Smith soccer. We get together and watch it before every game. It’s pretty funny actually. Also, we put stickers on our shin guards, I have no idea where that came from. It’s just something we do before every game.
What is your dream job?
To be a doctor in a cool city.
Any final words?
SOE, which means ‘soccer over everything.’ It’s another Smith soccer tradition. It’s like our slogan. I think it started back in the early 2000s.
