Smith College The Sophian 2024 Fall Advertising
The Sophian offers online advertising. The Sophian is published online on Mondays and Fridays, and the website reaches an average of 1,000 people per day. The Sophian is not offering print advertisements for the Fall 2024 Semester.
Advertising Guidelines The Sophian reserves the right to request advanced payment from new advertisers, to refuse advertisement at our discretion and to edit classified ads for clarity and/or length with appropriate adjustments to charges.
We are only able to accept payment by checks payable to “Smith College” with a note in the memo saying Sophian ad space . Invoices and tear sheets will be mailed within one week of the publication date (if a series of ads is placed, it will be sent within one week of the last publication date). We expect payment within 30 days of receipt of the invoice. Email ads as .pdf files to sophian@smith.edu. Please address any questions about our advertising policy to the Managing Editor.
Print Advertising: The Sophian is not offering print advertisements for the Fall 2024 Semester.
Production Schedule Advertisements need to be sent to the Sophian by 5pm on print deadlines to be included.
Rates Usable ad space is 6 columns (11 inches) across by 19.75 in down. Column inch sizes and standard ad sizes are listed below. We only accept black and white ads. Those interested in custom ads should confirm rates with the Managing Editor.

Digital Advertising: The Digital Advertising Package includes the digital publication of the ad as sponsored content on our website. The cost of a sidebar ad (160 x 600) for 1 week is $200
Digital ads must be sent via email to the Sophian by 5 p.m. on Sundays for a one-week run.
Discounts for Ads: Frequency discounts are available from 10% for three ads, 15% for six ads and 20% for a full semester Non-profit organizations receive a 15% discount. Smith Student Organizations and Clubs receive a 50% discount. Please specify your non-profit status in the insertion order. Local Businesses (in Hampshire County, MA) will receive a 15% discount.
