Smith Basketball Ranked First in NEWMAC 2023-2024 Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll

The New England Women and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) 2023-2024 Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released on Oct. 19, ranked Smith Basketball first out of the twelve teams in the conference. Smith received the votes of every team except two, resulting in ten first place votes. 

Kelsey Hunter Named Assistant Athletic Director for Equity, Inclusion and Student-Athlete Well-being

Kelsey Hunter was recently named the Assistant Athletic Director for Equity, Inclusion and Student-Athlete Well-being in July 2023. Hunter graduated from Smith in 2017, where she was a varsity athlete on the equestrian team and majored in psychology. She began working for Smith Athletics in 2019 as Coordinator of Student Athlete Development and Enhancement, which later evolved to Student Athlete Wellness Coordinator, and now to her current position. 

Smith Cross Country Jumps through the Ranks Following Second Place Dickinson Invitational Performance

The Smith Cross Country team recently placed second out of 19 teams at the Dickinson Invitational on Sept. 23, beating two nationally ranked teams: No. 28 Carnegie Mellon University and No. 35 Dickinson College.  This brought the Smith team up from a 10th-place regional ranking to now ranking sixth in the competitive Mid-East Region. 

Julie Xiong Finishes Historic Collegiate Career at NCAA Swim and Dive Championships

Julie Xiong ’23 wrapped up her senior season representing Smith at the NCAA Division III National Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in North Carolina on March 16 and March 17. She competed in the 100-meter butterfly, 100-meter breaststroke, and placed 18th (her highest national rank) in the 200-meter butterfly.
