Field Hockey player Julia Hamilton ’18 is our current Athlete of the Week. She scored a goal against Western New England University in the 4-0 win, as well as the game winning assist against Babson College on Oct. 11. The win over Babson College was Smith’s first since 2006. Hamilton also added assisted in the team’s 3-1 win over Westfield State University.
We sat down with Julia and asked her a few questions:
What is your favorite pre-game snack or food?
A chocolate PowerBar.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
We always meet in the locker room early and blast music to get us pumped for the game.
What is your favorite thing about the team this year?
We are all really close and get along so well.
What is your favorite movie?
“Safe Haven.”
What is your favorite memory of the season so far?
Definitely beating Babson in overtime. It had been a tight game throughout the 70 minutes of regulation time, but within three minutes of overtime we were able to score off of a corner.
What are your personal and team goals for the season?
My personal goals are to fight for every ball and be a supportive, hard-working player that my teammates can trust. My team goal is definitely making it to tournament play.
Are there any fun facts about the field hockey team that not many people know?
We have a bird call to get each others attention in a crowd of people.
