This week’s athlete of the week is Smith soccer’s Shelby Hall ’18. The first year from West Springfield, Mass. has proven to be rock solid in net for the Pioneers, despite this being her first year at the collegiate level. The Pioneers have posted five shutouts so far this year, due in large part to her 57 saves this season. Hall is currently leading the NEWMAC with a save percentage of .877 and only eight goals against. In addition, she has a goals-against average of 0.71.
We sat down with Hall and asked her a few questions:
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Listen to my pre-game playlist.
Any pre-game snacks?
Whatever Coach Mark has brought for us that game – granola bars, bagels, fruit, etc.
Favorite movie?
“G.I. Jane.”
Favorite memory so far this season?
Yellow versus blue challenge during preseason. And winning 8-1 against Emerson wasn’t too shabby either.
What are you personal and team goals for this year?
My personal goal is to try and get shutouts each game left this season. Our team goal is to win the NEWMAC Championship.
