This list offers shows new and old, as well as a new book, to entertain and keep you relaxed when you just need a break.

Just looking for a laugh or something to binge on Netflix? “Chewing Gum” is a show like “Jane the Virgin.” Tracey, the main character, is a 24-year-old who just wants to have sex, but her family and religion hold her back. It is humorous as she tries to figure out, with help from her friends, how to attract a man and get comfortable with the idea of sex.

If you are more interested in historical-era shows, “Cable Girls” is an exciting Spanish show about women working as phone operators in Spain during the 1920s. Women from different backgrounds try to liberate themselves with their new financial freedom.

Yet, if you are interested in sci-fi television, “Crazyhead” is a light-hearted show about killing demons. It is about two girls, Raquel and Amy, who try to navigate through their normal lives and, in the process, join forces with a demon hunter to kill the demons they see.

Would rather spend your free time delving into a book? There is a new book out for those of you looking for a story about strong women in history. If you enjoyed the book and movie “Hidden Figures,” there is a new book out called “The Radium Girls” by Kate Moore. It is a book about women who worked with radium and were eventually poisoned by it, causing many workers to die.  This book revolves around their fight for worker’s rights and ultimately their bittersweet victory.

If you are wondering what there is to look forward to in the future, there are some awesome shows coming out. The newest season of “Doctor Who” will feature a woman, Jodie Whittaker, as the Doctor for the first time. Also, the new supernatural spin-off “Wayward Sisters” is coming out soon. It follows the story of the Sheriff Jody Mills and her two adopted daughters, Alex Jones and Claire Novak.
